ACLC MEMBERS |
Leave
your timidity behind your back, wear your sport outfit, bring your snacks and
refreshments and Sidi Bousaid is the direction. The session of November 30th
2014 was an outdoor more precisely in the park of Sidi Bousaid. It all started
with a spectacular mindset. First we had to choose a nickname that
reflects our personalities and dreams. The creativity was there as usual and
each nickname had a story and what is the point of any untold story. “I am the
Master Mind one member said” call me Geek” one other member said while some
other members chose to keep their First names as they best suit them.
What
came next is even funnier, more entertaining but most of all very
useful as we believe outdoor
sessions are not just for fun. The mindset riddles aclc calls it. Listen
carefully to every single word of the riddle, think cooperatively with your
partner and go beyond your imagination that is our way and that is how we do
things in aclc.
Inside
the park, the craziness was literally unleashed and waiting for us along with
the fun and the great lessons.we were all divided into groups of similar
numbers to perform the Scavenger
Hunt challenge. Each group had a list of the most
unexpected missions no one could have speculated. It all required courage,
public speaking and lot of imagination. One group had to give some “free of
charges” aerobic dance class to strangers and perform “Mission impossible” in
front of a store while another team had to help a server in his job washing
dishes, another team however had to collect a bag full of trash and take a
picture with a whole family and the list goes on full of unexpected missions
and the aim was to master public speaking which we almost learned in fact and
we have erased words like “shy, I can not...” from our dictionaries.
Great
efforts have been made while we were trying to convince these strangers we have
never seen before who are we and what are we trying to do, thoughts, plans even
laughs and videos were shared in an unforgettable experience in which we were
all winners and we have all learned the true meaning of public speaking in a
real world experiences.
Explaining the tasks |
After
the competition was finished, no time for rest, we were all gathered in the feedback
circle to share our retaliations and how were our experiences during the
scavenger hunt challenge. It was a great opportunity to learn some useful tips
and practice body language. In fact we were asked to express our opinions and
feedback concerning the previous activity without saying any single word just
using our body language and even the smallest details actually matter and here
we would all like to thank all our club members one by one for their great
effort indeed and especially Hiba who made an extraordinary effort to surpass
her timidity and successfully unleashed
her inner potential “Now we can hear your voice Hiba”.

Last but
not least, a thick thread and a circle of trust were everything we needed to
live an unforgettable moment. We were asked by our mentors to meditate for two
minutes in order to go inside our deepest pain, our saddest memories and let
them all out.
The
circle was formed and the thread moved from one member to another. Each thread
tells a story and each story was shared with lot of emotions and have found
great listeners and very open minded family willing to support even with words.
Some of us shared even their untold stories the ones hidden inside their
deepest secrets and extremely important to mention that one of us summoned an outstanding
courage to tell us how she was sexually harassed but the relief she felt after
talking about it and the support she found were beyond any description but the
question is again raised “when are we going to stand all unite against this
cruelty and crime” ?
Eventually,
we left Sidi Bousaid with lots of nice memories and precious lessons no one
could have learned in one day.

indeed, what we have learned in the ACLC and especially this last session is just great.
ReplyDeletedancing, asking someone to marry you, a guy wears a dress.. after these intense actions, i think anything would be easy to do after.
i also point to the importance of eye contact when talking to someone, and the use of the left hand so the interlocutor concentrates with you more.
I love you all ACLC
