YLE: A Scintillating Light-house for 100 Young Exuberant Spirits in the South.

The 2nd edition of The Countdown: Build Tunisia in 20 Hours project took place in the southern city of Gafsa. A conflation of 100 people, of ages ranging from 14 to 30 years, of backgrounds completely different from one another, from 4 different states; Gafsa, Kasserine, Kef and Sidi Bouzid, spending 4 days together as room-mates as well as group-mates.
No one could have predicted the outcome of this combination. We went down there with an expectation of an upcoming challenge of coordinating between 100 people, and a youthful excitement about the project.
On March 17th, we -the organizers of the event- reached the Jugurtha hotel first. The buses started to arrive after, young people filled the reception wandering around not knowing what is expected of them. Some shy, silently checking in as instructed, some have come in cliques already, some have instantly set off to the networking phase. They were different in more ways than one, but they were all there for one reason. They all wanted to learn, to make a change for themselves and for the sake of their neglected regions. They were there to prove their worth, their power.
And so they did. Each and every one of them showed great potential.

For the next two days, our trainers Khalil Chafai and Maryem Meddeb have tought the Countdowners all about bringing the inner leader and manifest it into promisingly innovative ideas to serve and benefit their future in Tunisia.

Dreams were getting bigger and closer for the participants..

Training was a great opportunity to distinguish between all of the participants' unique styles in dealing with different matters and the strategies they adopt in the process, the teams were given the main theme based on which they would have to create a complete project along with the final presentation on March 21st. Participants were now ready to commence the hard work.

20 hours of non-stop work on their projects, the participants showed great persistence and determination in such a short period of time. No sleep deprivation, no hunger nor weariness could stop them from reaching the finish line and asserting their capacity. No matter how tired they were the smile never left their hopeful faces just to keep eachother's spirits high.

they knew they were about to experience their greatest achievements so far.. and Young Leaders Entrepreneurs team of organizers have guided them to the right path and set them on their own journey of self discovery.

On the final day, the day of the presentations, after 3 toilsome days for both the organizers and the participants, all 8 groups got on stage and brought it on! And all of us YLE members were very much proud of what they've accomplished.

The winning team created a persona called "Na5Bouge" as a mascot for the upcoming election process to encourage people to go to vote.

All the teams succeeded in making their voices heard in their own style in such a way that most of the teams deserved equally the winning spot.

The matter of the fact is, everyone came out a winner in the end. All of us. Each individual  that went through the experience has learnt new things from the project itself as well from the other individuals.

The Countdown overall was conceived within our private sphere, we've worked hard to make it through the ups and downs, it was a pyrrhic victory that we went through to get the project into motion, we risked our studies, our time with family and away from home for the sake of helping young kids evolve and divulge their true colours and exquisite potential.

The countdown; our very own blandiloquent oeuvre, which gave way to many other similar projects put together by other colleague organizations in Tunis as well as in Gafsa that followed our example and decided to do the same and serve their society. We, as YLE team, choose to see this result as a powerful expression of the great impact our work has had in our community. Young Leaders Entrepreneurs will always lead the battle to attain a better future for all Tunisians. And all are welcome to follow our footprints.
