This is very exciting and I think it’s the start of a life changing experience!(First week)

Saturday November 15th,Today was the opening session of the American Corner Leadership Club. It’s an ambitious initiative developed by Young Leaders Entrepreneurs in partnership with the American Corner Tunis to help young motivated people develop their skills and boost their careers.
At first, it may seem to be a gathering of young students from different backgrounds, enrolling in different schools and not having much in common. But it turns out that’s not true!
During this session, all participants were invited to share with the rest of the group the life changing experiences that they went through. It was overwhelming to hear their great stories. I couldn’t help but notice that, despite our differences, we all have one thing in mind: enthusiasm and commitment to be better individuals who can change their environment. This attitude is reflected in the code of conduct that we’ve established. In fact, invited to help set up this code, one participant shouted out Cooperation. Another said Participation and Engagement. Respect, Support, Commitment, Trust and Tolerance have also been mentioned.

We all have one more thing in common: the passion for English and the belief that mastering new languages will help us to succeed in this global environment. Therefore, we all agreed to only use English during the ACLC meetings. This will not only help us develop our English skills but will allow us to benefit from the guidance and support that Mr. Conor, the American Corner Coordinator at Amideast Tunis, has offered to provide us throughout this program.
During this first session, we’ve got the chance to meet Wiem Boubaker, a US Thomas Jefferson Program  alumni, who has also offered to help us throughout this program. She is definitely someone we all look up to. Despite some setbacks, she did fight for her dreams and worked hard to make herself and those who matter to her proud. That’s is really admirable!
As members of the American Corner Leadership Club, we’ve been fortunate enough to be part of this wonderful opportunity and we’re ready to follow in the steps of Wiem. We’re enthusiastic and determined to make the most of this program.

                                           So let the journey begin!

  1. Being part of the ACLC and the YLE opens doors to a new life full of hard work and exciting missions, full of achievements and responsibilities. It helps to forget about our lazy lives and start building a new active social life.
Thank you Marwen for this great article!
